Play-Doh Frozen Sparkle Snow Dome

We’re really starting to have fun behind the scenes of our Youtube channel production. Planning the toy review line-up and finding ways to incorporate various toys and themes together is quickly becoming the best part of our new family endeavor. We’re hoping our excitement to play with all of the cool toys shows. Let us know what you think!

For our first big Frozen toy review, we made a frozen surprise egg to jazz up the Play-Doh Disney frozen sparkle snow dome. We put the Play-doh set Queen Elsa and Princess Anna figurines into the egg, along with a Minnie Mouse bubble necklace and two blind bags. We covered the egg in bright pink dough which really popped on camera. We decided to try something new by sticking a Yazzle blinking sticker badge to the egg. Initially we were worried that the camera might not respond well to the blinking light, but a quick test showed it was doable. Awesome! Then we pressed out some Play-doh snowflakes using the press from the set to finish decorating the surprise egg.

Next, for the most challenging part of the set-up, modeling Sven and Olaf. The Play-doh Disney frozen sparkle snow dome comes with very detailed instruction on how to make the two Frozen friends, but the tricky part is getting all of the little dough balls to stick together and making the final product stand up. Sven is created using a very small tub of brown play-doh. It was difficult to piece him together solidly enough to hold up the large plastic antlers that come in the set, and we couldn’t quite make his ears stand out sideways like they should. Olaf was a simple build, but we opted to use our own white Play-doh. The kit includes one can of special, sparkle white Play-doh, but we wanted to save that to create our snow scene and ice castle. Once the guys were modeled, we added them to the toy review set. Here we go!

We really like to start the YouTube videos with an egg surprise! Out came Elsa & Anna, the Minnie Mouse bubble necklace, and the blind bags. Inside the Littlest Pet Shop bag was an adorable pig with a flower to attach to its head and a little basket. Inside the Hello Kitty blind bag was a ballerina kitty doing a cute curtsy. Blind bag figurines are always so cute!

We tested all of the basic functions of the play doh sparkle snow dome. First we spread some sparkle white dough on the base. Then we pressed some dough through the ice castle tool. It took quite a bit of pressure to force the dough through. The dough comes out looking like spaghetti. We think a star shape or something that has more of an ice crystal shape would have made a prettier design. We added some trees and snowflakes using dough and cutters from the kit. Then we placed Elsa, Anna, Sven, and Olaf, covered the scene with the dome, and admired the magical scene. Minnie Mouse acted as Mother Nature, and a blizzard hit Arendelle. The bubble necklace made nice small bubbles to complete our winter wonderland play fun. dome. Olaf was imagining Summertime, though…
