How Many YouTube Views Should I Have in One Month?

We’re two days away from the one month anniversary of launching our YouTube toy channel.  So far we’ve posted 46 videos, awarded prizes for two giveaways, and garnered 95 subscribers and nearly  than 1500 views.  At times, we feel like we’re making daily progress to grow our project, and at times we feel unnecessarily overwhelmed.  Well, that’s how the grown-ups feel.

And the kids?  Well, they’re lovin’ it.  Feepy is eager to share his matter-of-fact take on all of the toys he unboxes and reviews.  This month he has added a SickBricks collection to his toy shelf and he has a few new Lego minifigures and Marvel trinkets on display in his room.  He has opted to put many of the Play-doh surprise egg prizes back into our Toy Toons Review treasure bowl.

Ah…the treasure bowl.  Boy do I recommend one of these if you have a little one!  When we started Toy Toons Reviews, we collected many of the trinkets we currently had around the house and in the kids’ toy bins.  We also invested in lots of blind bags, Mashems, Squinkies, and other cute little figures for Surprise egg material.  After the eggs are open, the kids usually keep their treasures in their hot little hands all night.  Two-year-old Max typically will finagle Feepy’s toys away from him.  The trick is, when Max has let go of a goodie, we pick it up, and it goes back into the treasure bowl.  The treasure bowl comes in handy for little rewards and to just keep Max busy.  He likes to wrap the toys in Play-doh while we prep our videos.  He incorporates a dialogue into the play…obviously rehearsing for his time on camera.

That leads us to what Max really loves about the videos.  Yes, he is just crazy about the fact that we’ve substantially grown our household trinket collection.  However, he is thrilled to be a host on Toy Toons Reviews.  He actually cooperates when we get him ready for a shoot.  He willingly puts on a clean shirt, has his face and hands washed, and brushes his hair.  That’s more than we can say about any other time of day!  I even shot an impromptu video on the iPhone when our pro camera man wasn’t available.  I couldn’t say no to his enthusiasm to open a Captain America Play-doh surprise egg.

So far, the biggest playset that the boys have earned through their work is the Max Tow Truck Max Mini Off-Road Playset with the Mini Hauler loop and Mini Rev n’ Go.  Don’t let Feepy’s serious demeanor fool you, the playset is a lot of fun.  He had a friend play with him over the weekend.  They set up tons of obstacles and towing scenarios for the little cars.  He had a few issues with the Mini Rev n’ Go.  We had to glue on a bumper and a wheel.  Otherwise, the Max mini line seems to be a solid set.  We have a full-size Max Tow Truck on the way, and we’re very excited to put it to the test alongside the minis.  We had eyed the big truck around Christmas time, but opted to put Marvel Mashers under the tree instead.

Our Marvel Mashers videos were numbers one and two for upload to our channel.  Marvel Mashers Hulk vs Spiderman leads our viewer board with 181 views.

Feepy and I had a lot of fun battling the toys together, but my favorite role play fun was the Barbie Flippin’ Pup Pool!  The boys and I had a blast playing toys that day.  I desperately want to boost our girl toy viewership so that I can legitimize my selfish desire to get Frozen Elsa and Anna dolls.  There are some really cute doll kiddie soap opera YouTube videos out there.  I want to produce them!  We’d love to have you check out our playlists.  Let us know the types of toy videos you and your kids enjoy.  Subscribe to our channel.  Thanks guys!

Barbie Flippin’ Pup Pool!

As the mom to two boys, the most exciting part about starting a toy review channel on YouTube is the fact that we’re also reviewing (and playing with) girl toys!  In the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to play with friends’ little girls and my sweet niece, but there hasn’t been much demand for dolls, kitties, princesses, or pinks and purples in my home.  Having said that, my boys had almost as much fun as I did playing with the Barbie Flippin’ Pup Pool!

This super cute playset from Mattel is part of the Chelsea doll’s world collection.  It includes Chelsea, wearing a heart-patterned swimsuit, a yellow duck tube float, and she’s holding a pink dolphin toy that squirts water.  Accompanying Chelsea are her dog Taffy and two puppies.  The toys each add their own fun stunts to the playground, which includes the pup pool, a big slide, and a diving board.  Taffy performs a flip worthy of 10 points from the slide.  The other puppies can ride their dog-bone floaty down the slide or jump off the diving board.  Chealsea can slide down the slide herself, but she required us to hold her while jumping off the diving board, as the doll cannot stand up by herself, which is typical for Barbie dolls.  My boys loved playing with the two smaller puppies because they are squirt toys.

We also had a Kira doll, sold separately, join the pool party. Kira wears a purple and teal swimsuit and she has a purple whale tube float.   Her hair is styled in adorable thick pigtails.  The Chelsea doll’s world series also includes one other dolls for add-on.

The three friends are also sold as a set.

My boys and I played with this playset for hours.  We sent Batman down the slide.  Some SickBricks jumped off the diving board.  Other guest appearances included:  Shopkins, Hello Kitty, and My Little Pony.  You name it, if we had the figurine, we flipped it!

We finally cleaned up and set out all the toys to dry in time for dinner.  The boys kept asking to play more, but I had to explain that the Barbie Flippin’ Pup Pool is prize pack #1 for our latest giveaway.  LINK TO GIVEAWAY HERE  I promised them that we’d have more Barbie toys to play in the future!  Yay for girl toys!

Lego Disney Princess Jasmine’s Exotic Palace

Lego Disney Princess Jasmine’s Exotic Palace is a fabulous build!  We highly recommend this set for your Lego and princess enthusiast.

This 143-piece set includes Princess Jasmine, her pet tiger Rajah, the palace, and four other smaller accessory builds.  Bag one includes the Jasmine minifigure and all of the pieces to make Alladin’s magic carpet, a pedestal for Genie’s lamp, a marketplace stand with magic potions, a water feature that is reminiscent of the one that Queen Elsa freezes, and a shaded area for Rajah to eat.  There is also a snake charming toy.  Bag two includes all of the pieces to construct the opulent palace which is adorned with purple flowers, torches, a gilded domed roof, luxurious furniture, and pretty stickers.

Once built, the playset is a fun, interactive toy.  Jasmine can ride the carpet around her kingdom, roam around the palace, feed her pet, and take care of the grounds.  Add in other Lego minifigures or other Disney princesses for unlimited play scenarios.

The set is labeled for ages 5-12.   Surely this a a fun build for any Disney Princess fan, though!
