Content and social networking – these are the two challenges we’re juggling to start a toy review YouTube channel
. Today we will talk about content. Trends point to Play-doh surprise eggs as being very popular, so we have been experimenting with those. However, we are still searching for new ideas, something that we can do that is unique. When we spotted the Dr. Seuss Matching Game
at our local Target, we thought that would make a neat video, however we didn’t think through the challenges of playing a match on camera…cards slipping off the table, boring empty spaces when cards match and move. We decided to give the video a more interactive feel by adding popular nursery rhyme music and some fun toys.
The Dr. Seuss Memory game, itself, is a pretty good toy. We got it on sale for under $4 at Target. The cards easily and cleanly punch out from heavy cardboard sheets for set-up out of the box. The pictures are nicely printed, and there are 36 pairs. We unboxed the game specifically for the video. We had to reset the table three times before we had a good set-up for the video. When we got to the last card, we discovered that the final match was missing! We know it had been there when we unboxed the game. We had a mishap between set-up two and three. Perhaps we lost the card then? We’re still going nuts looking for it…
